Chris Tedder shares his trading life. When I was growing up, I didn't dream of spending most of my day in front of a bunch of computer screens. Yet now I wouldn't have it any other way.In the early 90s, retail FX trading was not yet widely available. Instead people traded equities. I was no different. However, unlike most of the population, I started trading stocks when I was around 12 years old. That was because my father introduced me to the finance world when I was very young. My father taught me that money should be working for you, instead of sitting in a bank account. My attraction to trading was almost instant and I was soon off on my own, trading blue chips.
I became a more high-frequency trader when I was at university. When I was not in class I could usually be found at my friend’s house, intraday trading on any number of stocks. We became quite obsessed with this highly speculative form of trading, and each morning we would study the market and search for opportunities. It was impossible to speak with us between 9.50–4.15, as we were sitting at our computer screens looking for the next opportunity. Whilst our trading strategy was not foolproof, we were able to feed off each other and we were learning quickly...
