Michael Pascoe: To tweet or not to tweet?
Twitter came along much too late. Think what Oscar Wilde could have done with it; the fun Dorothy Parker would have had.
If there’s a new generation of Wildes or Parkers out there, it seems they’re hiding their light under a mobile phone.
Of course to excel in such a short-form medium, it would help to be literate in the first place – but there’s not much evidence of that among the aptly-named twits a-twittering.
The problem was that I then found some rather amusing tweets. I haven’t seen any that will still be quoted next century the way Oscar and Dorothy are, but they’re not bad...
